The manufacturing procedure for NutriBiotic Pharmaceutical Grade Ascorbic Acid involves 15 steps. Vegetable starch is broken down into simple sugar (D-Glucose) by the action of heat and enzymes. The D-Glucose is converted into D-Sorbitol through hydrogenation. The D-Sorbitol is then converted into L-Sorbose through fermentation. L-Sorbose is combined with acid at low temperatures. This product is then oxidized with a catalyst, acidified, washed, and dried forming L-Gluconic Acid. The L-Gluconic Acid is treated with hydrochloric acid forming crude ascorbic acid.
