Astaxanthin is a red carotenoid found in many aquatic plant species. It is the most powerful carotenoid among all. [1, 2] Astaxanthin is classified in class of xanthophil. [2] It protects body against free radical damage and unlike other carotenoids it has ability to recycle free radicals in to useful ones.
